The PhoolBagh Editorial Team is pleased to report to Kanpur residents, and all who have been tracking, the status and updates, of Kanpur Metro Rail Line, Tracks and Stations, that the further operational expansion, of Kanpur Metro, on the underground section, through the most densely populated parts of Kanpur City seems to be going well.
The Engineering and Planning Teams of Kanpur Metro and UPMRC, have shown stellar commitment to this important, infrastructure and connectivity project of Uttar Pradesh. This round of comprehensive safety inspections, were for inspecting safety standards and to check if they meet all stipulated operational and safety requirements, before roll out of commercial services to commuters.
There was an initial safety inspection in February 2025, followed by a second round of inspections, to assess and check whether all safety parameters are met.
With this development, Kanpur Metro will be able to expand, its commuter services from IIT Kanpur and Kalyanpur, all the way to Kanpur Central Station, through five new Metro Stations of Chunni Ganj, Naveen Market, Bada Chauraha, Naya Ganj and the Kanpur Central Station.
Kanpur Central Station serves as a major junction, on the New Delhi to Howrah and Sealdah train route of Indian Railways.
A team of CMRS Commissioner Metro Rail Safety, travelled to Kanpur, for a second mandatory inspection, of the built out infrastructure and facilities, on this extended underground commute route of Kanpur.
It is with great anticipation that Kanpur Commuters, are looking forward to this massive infrastructure project delivery, that has the potential to transform and upgrade, urban mobility in a major Uttar Pradesh city like Kanpur.

The PhoolBagh Editorial Team decided to sample the chaos of the GT Road on Makar Sankrant 2025 in Kanpur. And what a chaos it was.
Kanpur still does not have a proper policy, for safe usage of roads and public transport for pedestrians and those choosing to travel or walk by foot. It is the age of road rage and large splashy cars to flaunt one's status in Kanpur and Uttar Pradesh. But if you are a Civil Servant, you of course have the luxury of a horn, blue lights, and proper bandobast by eager police constables.
But woe to the ordinary pedestrians, of Kanpur, still to taste the benfits of Kanpur being termed a Metro City !!
So it is best to loiter and go with the flow of chaotic road traffic in Kanpur City.
We decided to focus on the better side of KAnpur.
Food !! And a proper South Indian Masala Dosa.
A proper Dosa by Anna himself. at the crossing at Gurdev Palace seemed a nice place to shelter, as a poor and forgettable pedestrian submerged in Kanpur traffic.
Anna Dosa was Rs 60 and the Sambhar and Chutney were runny and not too bad. Anna even came around to offer a considerate, second helping of the runny chutney that had seen some coconut days sometime for sure.
The best part was the utterly unique JalliKattu poster of young Anna taming a bull !!

The PhoolBagh Editorial Team went out for a long walk through the alleys of Kanpur, on the penultimate night of Gregorian 2024 calendar.
The intention was to survey the completion of the NayaGanj Under Ground Metro Station of the upcoming underground stretch of Kanpur Metro by UPMRC.
From quieter alleys of Harbans Mohal to Hoola Ganj.
For old times sake one stopped for some crispy Chat at Ram Prasad Chat Wala. A portion of Crisp Aloo Tikki priced at Rs 60 with loads of grated Mooli Radish and Green Coriander.
Then one stopped in front of a couple of massive JCB diggers parked quietly outside the shops of erstwhile Kwality Restaurant, Gita Press and Godrej Interio. And then the stretch where there once used to be the Advani BookSellers, Kashmir Dry Fruits Mart, P D Gooba and Sons and a venerable shoe shop of TAFCO.
Once on this stretch of Mall Road, used to walk the upper class gentry of Cawnpore and some Anglo Indians. Down the ages, so much has changed from the disappearance of Valerios and Noronha Residence, the picture halls of Regal and Sundar, the venerable bookshop of Universal Book Stall of the Chawlas.
